The Risks of Mismatched AC Evaporator and Condenser Coils

The components of your HVAC system need to be matched for it to perform correctly and last long. As your equipment ages, it will become more susceptible to problems. One of the first parts of your air conditioner to usually experience issues are its condenser and evaporator coils. When one of them is affected, you cannot simply replace it with something that does not match the original.

Keep reading to discover the risk of mismatched AC evaporator and condenser coils.

Shorter Equipment Lifespan

With mismatched coils, you are significantly reducing the lifespan of your equipment. Mismatched components will put a strain on your AC. For instance, if the condenser coils work harder than the evaporator coils, you can end up paying for costly repairs. Worst case scenario, your equipment may face early failure.

Increased Energy Costs

If one of the coils is larger than the other, the smaller ones will not be able to match the capacity of the larger coils. As a result, your entire HVAC system will work harder and longer to reach your desired temperature. It not only risks damaging your equipment, but also causes it to consume more electricity to meet your demands. A reputable air condition service provider will make sure these two coils match to avoid this issue.

Reduced Comfort

The humidity and temperature of your living spaces can increase if your condenser and evaporator coils are not the same size. Your AC may excel in dehumidifying your home if the evaporator coils are larger, but will not cool your home effectively. Meanwhile, larger evaporator coils will cool your interior, but they will not remove moisture from the air.

Keep in mind that it is never a good idea to delay an air condition repair. At EZ Air Conditioning and Heating, you can count on us for quality residential HVAC services. Give us a call at (210) 429-9186, or fill out our contact form to get an estimate.
