Tips on Using Your Heat Pump During Summer

Your heat pump is essential to keep your indoors at a comfortable temperature during summer. However, the constant or incorrect use of your heat pump can lead to higher utility costs or expensive repairs. Today, we share a few tips on how to utilize your heat pump in summer.

Use the Timer

Your heat pump’s timer can help reduce your power usage by automatically shutting off your unit at a predetermined time and turning it on only when required. When going to bed, you should activate the sleep timer so that your heat pump won’t run all night long.

Retain a Reasonable Temperature

Even if it’s extremely hot outside, setting your HVAC system to a very low temperature is not recommended. This is because your unit will have to work hard to reach the set temperature, leading to higher energy consumption. Experts recommend using your heat pump’s COOL mode in summer and setting the temperature at 78 degrees. Make sure you don’t change this setting while your AC is operating, so your unit can function more efficiently.

Have Your Heat Pump Regularly Checked Out

Regular inspection is vital to heat pump maintenance. It helps you detect and address underlying issues and prevent new ones from affecting your unit. Regular inspections also allow your HVAC system to work more efficiently, saving you money in the long run.
